"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny." - Upanishads

My yoga journey is one that has been filled with ups and downs, twists and turns and everything in the in between. I have learned many life lessons on my mat that have transcended into my everyday being. I have come to realize that the way we approach our practice often parallels the way we embark on a new day. The attitudes and expectations that we carry towards ourselves and towards others can weigh heavily on our practice, just as they can on our everyday interactions.

Yoga is my way of life. It is physically, mentally and emotionally challenging and no two classes will ever be the same. My practice is my own and as I have grown it has changed and evolved with me. Over the years I have come to realize that to practice yoga is to practice the connection to yourself. There is a need to connect to the here and now, to bring your attention and focus to the present moment letting go of the past and allowing the future to unfold at its own pace.

I am so incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to share my love and passion for yoga with others. I am living my dreams out loud every time I step into the studio.

Teaching yoga has been one of the most amazing, hilarious, beautiful, fun, self awakening adventures that I could have possibly embarked on in this life! There is this quote that says, "Your practice is for your students, and your teaching is for you." Sharing the art of yoga fills me with someting that no other "job" could. Getting on the mat with others and working together on what it means to be human is humbling, and so fantastic.

We share in a deep connection when we join for our practice, coming together to find out exactly who we are. Sometimes these realizations aren't easy to take, and other times we leave our practice with laughter. Either way, yoga unites each of us, not only to ourselves, but to each other.

As a teacher, I love coming to lead a practice with a light heart. Some of my inspirations include: Led Zeppelin, the yoga sutras, adventures with the Edmonton transit system, nature, longboarding, being on my farm in Saskatchewan, making art and practicing yoga (duh).

I'm trained in vinyasa, hatha, restorative/yin styles, but since we're all students, my study of yoga is ever expanding, and I'm continuously adding to that list.

Continue to play, explore and enjoy your practice! I look forward to being apart of it.

My yoga journey began three years ago when my sister brought me to my first Moksha class. I was instantly hooked. I fell in love with both the physical and mental challenge of being in the hot room while practicing yoga. The feeling of pure bliss after finishing a class and the change that I saw in my body kept me coming back for more. I took my 200 hr RYT training in November 2010 in beautiful Baja, Mexico at the Yandara Yoga Institute. I lived in a tent on the beach for 16 days while practicing yoga all day, every day, in a pavillion overlooking the ocean. It was an amazing experience that I am truly grateful for. My teachers at Yandara taught me how to practice yoga both on and off the mat. I learned to balance breath and movement, to be patient, and listen to my body. These are just some of the things I hope to bring to my students. I love to see my students smile, have fun, and try something new.

Yoga is one of my biggest passions in life. I continue to learn and grow as a student and look forward to growing as a teacher. I am truly in love with the practice, and I love to teach. I look forward to seeing you all in the yoga room. Namaste.

I remember vividly my first yoga class; I went with my Mum. We were a little bit apprehensive to try something new in a studio filled with who we thought would be advanced practitioners, bending & twisting themselves into pretzel-like poses that we would never dream of being able to master. As it happened, and what we learned over time, was simply that yoga had nothing to do with anyone else in the room, and everything to do with being in one's own body, honoring one's very own practice of yoga.

As a teacher, I am now blessed with the opportunity to share this understanding with my students. Yoga is a beautiful balance between the mind, body & soul; a balance I will be ever in pursuit of as a lifelong student of the practice and one that I hope to help guide my students toward in their own pursuit.

I completed Power Yoga teacher training just over a year ago. What I love most about the practice of power yoga, which finds its roots in the practice of ashtanga yoga, is the way in which the constant flow of movement is married so closely to the breath that it becomes a moving meditation. There is nothing to do but to be in one's own body, focused on one's own breath, doing one's own practice of yoga.

Yoga is the practice of quieting the mind. [Patanjalia]
