Settling into Summer

Author: Sammy Feltes l Stillpoint Healing l Greenwood, Indiana

Coming out of winter and spring this year feels different. It does not feel like the energetic, exciting, and planning all the events of summer but instead a more chill, calm, and slow summer. And I accept this with open arms!

I love the warm weather and am usually trying to figure out how to do all the summer events to make sure we felt like we did all the things. However, I am embracing this season and I guess in life in general, to slow down, be more still, and see joy in the everyday events. I have even decided not to do some of the big annual events that I have been doing for years which feels strange but also refreshing. Right now, a lot of our time looks like landscaping and doing outside work at home, family walks and date nights, car shows, swimming and mainly being with our extended families. These all allow us the freedom to do them at our own pace and really only when we want to.

My social life outside of these has been more check-ins, phone calls, and reminders that I am here when they need me. I think summer will lend some time to be more intentional and create space for friends who are ready for our chill, slow season as well. I hope to make time for cookouts, boating, shopping trips, trying new food spots, and lazy days with those that are important to me.
